Started by two Bristolian brothers, Bristol Balloon Collectors is an organisation of friends determined to keep the magic of these local treasures alive and to be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.
The majority of the envelopes in the collection have been built, based and flown locally to Bristol and Bath. Once a familiar sight in the skies over the region, these are the balloons we all remember and love from our childhoods. We save and display them now to bring a smile to the faces of those who remember them from years gone by, as well as to inspire the next generation to continue.
In addition to our local envelopes, we also are home to balloons from further afield and even overseas. We are lucky to also have some famous envelopes in the collection include a record setter, a replica of the Virgin Flyer and multiple large vintage special shapes, including Thomas the Tank, Rupert the bear, the Michelin man and the BBC globe.
